The sidestick replicates a specific, real control

Unlike a fighter-style center stick, the TCA Sidestick sits to the side of the seat, matching how Airbus airliners are actually flown. Thrustmaster's own listing describes it as a 1:1 scale replica of the A320/A320neo sidestick, with 17 action buttons and four swappable joystick head modules carrying 12 remappable buttons between them — letting you reconfigure the same physical stick to sit as a captain's, co-pilot's, or solo center-mounted position. It also includes a built-in throttle axis with a thrust reverser mechanism, and rudder input works by rotating the handle itself, a detail that mirrors how sidestick-equipped aircraft actually integrate rudder trim into the stick rather than a separate lever.

The quadrant is built around real Airbus detents

The TCA Quadrant Airbus Edition pairs with the sidestick to complete the setup. It carries dual thrust levers with realistic Idle, Climb, Flex, and TO/GA detent positions — the same named power settings used in real Airbus operations — plus two Engine Master selector switches and a total of 16 programmable buttons split between 8 physical buttons and 8 virtual buttons built into the levers themselves. For anyone simming four-engine aircraft, Thrustmaster's listing confirms two quadrant units can link together, effectively doubling the throttle levers available.

H.E.A.R.T sensors instead of potentiometers

Both units use Thrustmaster's H.E.A.R.T (Hall Effect AccuRate Technology) system rather than the potentiometer-based sensors common in cheaper sticks. The TCA Captain Pack X Airbus Edition goes further: it bundles the Officer Pack with a second, linked TCA Quadrant Add-on for four-engine setups, plus an Ecosystem Hub adapter that Thrustmaster describes as simplifying connectivity to a single USB cable and adding Xbox Series X|S compatibility on top of PC — the only way to get this control layout onto a console. If Xbox support matters at all, the Captain Pack X is the only Airbus-branded Thrustmaster option that gets you there; the individual Sidestick and Quadrant units do not.

Who this doesn't suit

This is airliner-specific hardware built around one aircraft family's real control layout. If you fly fighters, warbirds, or general combat sims, a center-stick HOTAS — including Thrustmaster's own Warthog line — matches that flying style far better than a sidestick built to replicate a wheel-free airliner cockpit. And if console play matters to you and you're buying the individual Sidestick or Quadrant instead of the Captain Pack X bundle, neither standalone unit will connect to Xbox on its own.
